Description

James Island County Park boast 643 acres of beautiful recreation. It is just minutes from downtown Charleston, but it still feels secluded and peaceful. There is a $1 entrance fee per person or you can purchase a yearly pass at a huge discount.

Not only are there nice walking and running trails, but there is also a huge off-leash dog park, a spray-play fountain area, a small water park, saltwater fishing areas, picnic spots, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, and a whole lot more. This is a go-to spot for Charleston locals!

I love this park. When I lived in Charleston I came here every single day. Although running in Charleston can get pretty hot, most of their trails are nicely shaded and wind through their wooded rec area. All of the trails connect, so you can take a pretty long run by doing different loops. This is a fairly popular park, so you're not going to be getting much alone time here, but it also never seems overcrowded.
My favorite part about James Island? Their dog park! They have a huge dog park that connects to a lake in the middle of the park. Most of the dogs here are very friendly, and it's usually always an awesome experience.
