This was one of the best trails I have ever hiked! The trail is all uphill, until you reach the 70 ft. tower at the top of the mountain, then back down the way you came. Great views of Pisgah National Forest can be seen from the tower. The trail is narrow and rocky until halfway where it merges with a gravel road. This is where it got good. The road was lined with wildflowers that attracted more butterflies than I had ever seen at once.

We hiked this trail in the early morning and it was a beautiful start to the day. It was summertime and there were so many flowers in bloom all the way along the trail. Wherever there were flowers, there were also butterflies, lots of butterflies. I felt like I was in butterfly heaven. Once we got up to the top there was an observation tower with a breathtaking 360 degree view of the surrounding mountains. To add to the delightfulness, the weather was perfect, cool and sunny.
