Tishomingo State Park boasts the best hiking in the state! At the foot of the Appalachians, the trails at 'Tish" offer foliage, greenery, and boulders rarely seen anywhere in Mississippi.
My favorite trail begins with a stone stairway across from the parking lot at the old cabin. Pass through the old CCC campground and explore to find relics from the past. Pass through huge boulders as you traverse several miles to get to the old swinging bridge. Cross the bridge for a 2-mile trek along the river and into higher areas with huge boulders and a small waterfall you can walk behind! Then return back to the old cabin parking lot by taking the trail on the other side of the park swimming pool. This is a TERRIFIC day hike of about 7 miles.
