Section 161 of the Appalachian Trail runs 43.4 miles from the west branch of the Pleasant River to Nahmakanta Lake. As such, it is the longest section of the Appalachian Trail as it is divided by the official Appalachian Trail guidebooks.
Along the way, the trail passes the Carl A. Newhall Lean-to, West Peak, White Cap Mountain, the Logan Brook Lean-to, the East Branch Lean-to, Big Boardman Mountain, Little Boardman Mountain, Kokadjo B Pond Road, Crawford Pond, the Cooper Brook Falls Lean-to, Church Pond, Jo Mary Road, Cooper Pond, Mud Pond, Lower Jo-Mary Lake, Potaywadjo Spring Lean-to, and Pemadumcook Lake.
