The AT runs 19.1 miles from ME Hwy 27 to Long Falls Dam Road. Along the way, the trail passes the Horns Pond Lean-to (west and east), The Horns, West Peak on Bigelow Mountain, Little Bigelow Mountain, the Little Bigelow Lean-to, Flagstaff Lake, and Bog Brook Road.

    this trail starts on rt 27 wear most thru hikers go in to Stratton to resupply.once you go by cranberry stream campsite,its a steady up hill climb for 4 miles to horn lean-to(3160ft) then its up again to bigelow mt.(4145ft) great will cross the fire warden trail on your way to avery mt. memorial campsite,and avery peak(4090ft) then its down hill to another campsite and little bigilow.its an easy hike from here to longfalls dam rd.(about 6 miles)and the 2000 mile mark for thru hikers.this is a 2 to 3 day hike one way. loved it
