Shades has some of the best hiking in Indiana. Many of the trails are rated rugged (by Midwest standards - no mountains here) and you will hike through streambeds at the bottom of ravines in many spots. Lots of natural beauty including waterfalls, sandstone cliffs along Sugar Creek & stone formations. Be sure to check out the Devils Backbone on trail 10 in the Pine Hills Nature preserve.
