Description

This trail is part of the Florida Trailwalker Program. It is a nice hike around a pond. There isn't much cover from above and it is pretty dry. There is some interesting coral-looking moss covering much of the ground and there is lots of sand.

We hiked this trail on June 21, 2016. It was well maintained when we hiked it. The slashes were yellow. We were in sun about 50% of the time and shade the other 50%. There is a nice observation deck and when we visited there was plenty of water in the pond. We noticed that on turns in the trail they used a pointed slash or a yellow arrow instead of 2 yellow slashes. At the very outset of the trail we were treated to a Red-bellied Woodpecker nest, with babies, in a snag by the parking area. Along the trail we saw quite a few woodpeckers and nuthatches. This trail seemed longer than the 1.8 miles that was stated in our information. Again, the kiosk needed information.

Can be hot in the summer, so bring some water. I hiked it in the cooler months & it was nice.

This is an interesting trail. There is lots of sand and dry moss on the ground. There is a pond, which was dried up when I visited, and a dock that overlooks it. It is a loop trail about 2 miles. It is pretty open, so wear sunscreen and drink lots of water.

This trail has coral looking moss all over the ground. It is really neat. Johnson Pond was almost dry when I was there. The trail is sandy and level most of the way. I plan to return another season to see how this one changes.
