This is probably the best bang-for-your buck high alpine hike in Chaffee County! Absolutely gorgeous! We did this in the spring, and much of the trail was muddy and boggy, but still a fun time. According to my GPS, round-trip this was about 3 miles out-and-back.

This is a stunning hike that begins near tree line just below Cottonwood Pass. It is an easy hike to the lake. If you're feeling adventurous you can climb up to the Continental Divide trail, above the lake, and hike to Cottonwood Pass. Here you can either shuttle back to your car or follow an animal trail through the willows back down to the LL trail and the TH. Because the pass and road are closed in the winter you will need to wait until the road opens in May to access this unless you want to get a snowmobile shuttle up.
