There actually are several trails at Hall Ranch Open Space. This trail connects with other trails in Hall Ranch as well.

Recently, I hiked the Nighthawk Trail. This is an easy-moderate out and back hike. At first the elevation gain is barely noticeable, and then after about a mile, the switchbacks get closer together and after every turn the view gets more interesting.

The vegetation and landscape are reminiscent of southwestern desert with red sand, cacti and other types of plants. It reminds of me of hikes I've been on in Albuquerque and Moab. It's a fairly easy hike, nice to take someone on who hasn't hiked much or for visitors from out of town.

There is not much cover at all, so definitely wear sunblock. There were also plenty of mosquitos out when I hiked this in early June. This trail is shared with horseback riders so beware of all the horse droppings along the way, there's plenty of it.
