Barr Trail is the most popular trail to summit the famous Pikes Peak. During the 13 mile ascent you will climb a total of 7,800 feet in elevation. This hike is a very difficult, brutal climb, and should only be attempted by those in a fit physical condition. The trail is well-marked, traveled often, and easy to follow, and it should take you anywhere between 6-10 hours to summit the mountain.
Enjoy the beautiful forests and rock formations on your climb up, and, of course, once you've summited the mountain-top views are sure to take your breath away.

Brutal, challenging, popular, but always worth it. IT's a very well known trail in CO, only for seasoned hikers. The elevation is "staircase" level, for the entire up hike. It's very very hard to finish unless you have trained, but, if you make it, it is a bucket list activity you'll never forget. Was this helpful?

Very nicely kept trail. Lots of traffic, but heading into the back-country (toward pikes) traffic flow slows. Awesome scenery Was this helpful?

very popular trail. in the summer you can expect to see tons of folks going up and down. about half-way up there is Barr Camp. if you plan on staying there this is a reservation only camp. the trail gains alot of elevation over its 12 mile length. over 7000 feet and ends at the top of pikes peak right nest to the gift shop/oxygen bar. take alot of water and snacks. there are two approaches to doing this trail. first take the normal entrance which starts up a series of switchbacks or hike up the infamous Incline which connects to Barr trail via a 3 mile hike behind the top of the Incline. If planning on doing this via Mountain Bike on a downhill, trail is very technical with a lot of switch backs and tricky stretches. Was this helpful?
