Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest (NHAL) is the largest of the state forests. With nearly 223,000 acres it offers plenty of natural wilderness and solitude. Due to its large size the forest has been spilt into two areas: Crystal Lake Area and Clear Lake Area for reservation purposes. For a full appreciation of all the forest has to offer please review both areas prior to making reservations. Crystal Lake Area .

Great campground in a great location. Park is always clean and very quiet. Sites are spread out and private. There are many trails to explore and you can walk around most of the lake on the beach. Some of my favorite campsites sit in the North loop. You are high above the lake and the view is amazing. Sunsets/Sunrises are amazing. This is one of many campgrounds that are part of the Northern Highlands American Legion State Forest. I really have nothing bad to say about this place. It is just another great park in the NHALSF.
