If you want a wilderness experience, then Forked Lake is for you. It is an excellent spot for canoeing or kayaking. There is plenty of room to explore. They don't have a beach, but that didn't stop my boys from swimming near our campsite. All of their campsites are on the lake, some on islands. Of course that means that you have to load up your canoe/s and paddle your gear to your campsite. Many of the campsites can be hiked to as well. It makes for a very quiet camping experience (no cars going back and forth). Of course it also means outhouses!
