The two reviewers following this one are confusing the Platte River Campground in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore with Platte River State Forest Campground. These are within 30 miles of each other but very different places. Platte River State Forest Campground is on the river in the woods, very rustic, and owned/managed (sort of) by the State of Michigan. Make sure you know which one you are going to.

This campground is now part of the Sleeping Bear Dunes NLS and managed by the Nat'l Park Service. I don't know the exact number of sites, but it's much more than 25. Also, there are modern bathrooms with coin operated showers and a dishwashing room. It's a fantastic campground!

excellent campground!! Trails to lake michigan. Quite for the most part. Within walking distance to the canoe and tube rental for a lazy, fun packed float down the river to lake michigan. Make reservations, this place fills up fast!

July 9th 2009. Nice location. Great place for river sports. Excellent workout hiking trails near by, check out platte springs trail for a close to camp exploration. Close to sleeping Bear dunes and the new Sleeping Bear boat cruise,we went on the sunset cruise.Very nice.

The price of the Campsites was $15 per Night. worth every penny.
