It's a beautiful place. interesting story: July 4, 1978 we spent a wonderful day skiing with friends but were dismayed as to why the lake was deserted. We found out later that just 2 weeks prior, a freak tornado had capsized a dinner/show boat and 16 people drowned.....sad but true.

Stumbled on this place after being disappointed with a state park in Kansas. We loved it. Tent camped on primitive site in October with NO CHARGES! Free showers! The lake is gorgeous, the visitors' center is professional and welcoming and the facility is wonderful. On-season costs reasonable fees and we are definitely going back to this place. There are various camping areas, some more remote and primitive, others more community oriented and advanced. Shopping nearby and marina. We're thinking about canoeing from camping area to camping area for a week or so.
