This is one of my favorite places to hike in the state. It is one of the state's more challenging hikes, although the ascent is relatively short. The steep hike is fun and the view from the top is beautiful. Although people primarily use the trail to access Medicine Hole or just hike to the summit there, continuing hiking west along the ridge is worthwhile. There are some interesting features along the south side of the ridge and rolling landscapes to the north. Although signs direct cars here, it is a little unclear where the trailhead is from the end of the road, but look south beyond the fence for picnic tables and restrooms.
