This park is a very unique landscape, and is quite fun to wander around. It's too bad this is the result of poor farming practices in the early 1900's... might as well make the best of something bad! If you visit, you really should take the time to walk down into the canyons and wander the 9 canyons there. There's lots of cool alcoves, side canyons and clay cliffs. Cool but kind of sad at the same time

This park is the result of poor farming practices that lead to devastating erosion. The canyon, as it is called, is more like a bunch of big ravines coming together. Making this land a park was all that could be done with this land. The walls are very colorful with different stratified clays. The trail is clay. I would avoid visiting this park when the weather is wet. I visit this park frequently because of its solitude. I rarely see other people there. There are plenty of photo opportunities too.

I hiked this Saturday Dec 11, 2011. I spent 4 hours on the Canyon Floor photgraphing. I recommend to do this park at this time of year. You will be able to get to places that are normally overgrown and impassable. I got right up into the canyon and climbed. I walked the river up in the red clay. There were only 3 cars at the park. Ni one knows about this park because of Budget Cuts. A MUST FOR anyone that loves taking photo's like me.
