West Turkey Creek Campground has more of the character of a cluster of dispersed camp sites than the feel of a developed campground. Sites are not well defined and none of them have tables. The area does have relatively new toilet facilities, however, and the surroundings are top notch. This small, out-of-the-way campground is located on the banks of West Turkey Creek, a sprightly stream flowing from the Chiricahua high country. In the vicinity of the campground, the creek cascades past colorful wildflowers. The riparian area the stream supports includes healthy populations of silver-barked Arizona sycamores. Rocky, flat-topped peaks form the rim of the canyon here, and Forest trails branch off from the road to follow the side canyons that wander among them. All of those trails are just a short drive from this campground.
