Description
Come fishing in LaBonte Creek. Steep canyon sides, along with patches of aspen and conifers, makes this area one of the most scenic on the Douglas Ranger District. The canyon bottom is about 6,000 feet in elevation, and has granite rock formations for technical roack climbing and photography.Bear Canyon joins LaBonte Canyon from the south and is frequently used as a 4-wheel drive road but is also used for hiking and horseback riding. This road gives access to the scenic Devil's Pass near the Sawtooth Peaks.

LaBonte Canyon is located 35 miles southwest of Douglas, Wyoming.Take State Highway 91 west then south from Douglas for 20 miles, Converse County Road 16 south for 14 miles, and northeast on Forest Road 658 for one mile.The pavement ends about 25 miles outside of Douglas and is gravel the remainder of the way, but is easily accessible by car.Activities

6 campsites with tables and fire grates, vault toilet, no host on site. Pack out trash. Semi primitive campground. Dogs must be leashed in the campground. Signs posted at the campground.Campsites will accommodate trailers under 22 feet in length. There is a limit of 2 vehicles and 10 people per campsite.There are also numerous undeveloped campsites along Forest Road 658, between Curtis Gulch Camground and the forest boundary along LaBonte Canyon.No dispersed camping is allowed within ¼ mile of the campground.Reservation info
