Directions: Take U.S. 76 northwest from Hiawassee for 2 miles; turn left (south) on Georgia 288 for 1 mile.
Guidebooks: Activities: Hikers can enjoy the 1.2-mile Lake Chatuge trail around the pine-covered peninsula.
Campground description: Overlooking beautiful Lake Chatuge in the north Georgia mountains, this recreation area offers camping, boating, fishing and hiking. Thirty campsites are available, with tent pads, grills and picnic tables.
Fee: Area opens late April and closes late October; gate opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m. daily. A fee is required.
Campground services: Each campsite is equipped with tent pad, lantern post, and picnic table. Restrooms, drinking water and cold-water showers are available.
Campsites: Loop through recreation area is paved. Several sites can accommodate trailers; many are for tents only.
