Description
This group area is located a short distance off the Ruby Road near Pe?±a Blanca Lake. It is available for use only by groups that reserve it in advance. The access road is gated and locked when the area is not being used. Reservations may be made by calling the Nogales Dstrict Office (520-281-2296) at least four weeks in advance. (Major holidays are often reserved a year in advance). A major attraction at Calabasas Group Site is nearby Pe?±a Blanca Lake. This popular area for fishing, boating, and birdwatching is just a short drive on paved roads from the campground. Groups do come to Calabasas, however, to enjoy the area's natural setting. Campsites here are spread out among a stand of oak trees within a shallow, grassy valley. A few well-worn pathways lead to low hilltops in the area where you will find good views of the surrounding valleys and mountains.Directions
