Rhode Island (RI) hiking is centered around coastal trails that meander over sandy beaches along the Atlantic Coast.

Head south and explore trails that wind across sandy beaches and over large sand dunes. Coastal forests provide a haven for hikers to explore the trails under a cool tree canopy. Bays and inlets offer plenty of trails, like Narragansett Bay, which harbors over 30 islands, some of which are open to island hiking.

Rhode Island's inland is basically flat, with no real mountains, but there are plenty of marshes and lakes for hikers to enjoy. Find trails that follow lakeshores in Rhode Island's many parks, and enjoy a refreshing swim. Most of the trails around Rhode Island are easy enough for families with small children to enjoy, but interesting enough for even the most experienced hiker. Hikers can even find trails around cities like Providence and Newport as well!
