From the Appalachian Mountains in North Georgia to the sandy beaches on the coast, Georgia (GA) hiking is bound to offer a variety of hikes for the outdoor enthusiast.

North Georgia provides plenty of hiking trails within the Chattahoochee--Oconee National Forest. The Appalachian Trail begins at the popular Amicalola Falls, where families can enjoy a view of the cascading waterfall. Hikes are scattered all over the North Georgia wilderness and range from flat, wooded hikes to steep mountain scrambles. Blood Mountain and Brasstown Bald are popular hikes for both families and avid hikers alike. Atlanta hiking has plenty to boast about as well with Stone Mountain and Kennesaw Mountain providing steep, wooded trails that end with mountain-top views.

Lake hiking is popular with Lake Lanier and Lake Oconee close by, which provide sandy and rocky trails along the lakes' coast and within its islands. Head to the coast for meandering trails leading down sandy paths in places like Cumberland and Jekyll Island. Hike on barrier islands through maritime forests, undeveloped beaches, and wide open marshes. The Peach State has some of the best hiking trails in the southeast for adventurous hikers.
