North Dakota (ND) camping is all about the Great Plains, but there are plenty of unique campsites to find in this great state.
Eastern North Dakota provides the perfect terrain for campers; it's flat with plenty of wide open sky to start a campfire under. The Red River of the North flows close by and offers plenty of riverside campsites, and allows for activities like boating, canoeing, fishing, and swimming. Central North Dakota has plenty to offer as well with the Drift Prairie and the Missouri Plateau making up most of the area. Camp in the rolling hills of the peaceful prairie or find pristine kettle lakes to set up your tent or RV.
Western North Dakota features hilly prairie lands where campers can find a secluded campsite, but it also features badland areas where campsites can be found in stunning canyons where campers can explore ravines and gullies. The Missouri River also flows through Western North Dakota into Lake Sakakawea. Here campers can cool off with some river or lake camping along a scenic shoreline. Family-friendly campgrounds offer RV and camper sites as well as basic tent sites with amenities like swimming pools, children's playgrounds, and camp stores. Don't forget to check out more urban camping opportunities near cities like Bismarck, Fargo, and Grand Forks.
