This section of the Appalachian trail takes a turn south and makes almost a complete circule around the Standing Indian campground. Shelters along this route include Standing Indian, Carter Gap, Big Spring, and Rock Gap.Directions
From Franklin take US highway 64 west toward Murphy. Look for the turnoff onto gravel forest service road 71 on the left just past Black Gap Rd.Trail length
