This trail is popular with backpackers and mountain bikers but it's also a great place for an out and back day-hike. Starting at the top of Monarch pass you'll quickly find yourself above tree line with incredible views. Be warned: if you're not in good shape the altitude (10,000-11,000 feet) can make breathing difficult.
