Amazing white sand dunes you can hike or drive across. Bring your sunglasses - this stuff is bright and reflective in the bright New Mexico sun. I recommend taking off your shoes and socks to feel the soft, fine sand up close and personal. Since the dunes are constantly shifting due to the wind be sure to remember where you parked - this place can be disorienting!Directions
From NPS.gov: The visitor center is located on U.S. Highway 70, 15 miles (24 km) southwest of Alamogordo and 52 miles east of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Travelers from Carlsbad Caverns to southern Arizona can follow U.S. 82 through the scenic Sacramento Mountains to reach White Sands National Monument.Trail length

(2 out of 2 members found this review useful.)Incredible vistas, probably one of the most unique hikes I've done. Many of the dunes can be traversed barefoot, an experience I highly recommend. Also check out the marked trails and boardwalks for a different perspective on the dunes.
