McClellanville, South Carolina(View other McClellanville area trails)
Trail length:
40 miles
Posted by: SCguide1 on December 29, 2009Description
Over 20 years of volunteer work has gone into this 2-loop trail that runs splendidly through Francis Marion National Forest. A crowning achievement for everyone involved in the on-going project. The eastern loop is 12 miles and is less technically challenging than the western loop, which is about 24 miles. Both loops combined will bring your pedalometer up to nearly 40 miles.
The trail is open year round and is used ‘harmoniously’ by mountain bikers and motorcyclists. Bikers will also share the trail and surrounding area with hunters during specific seasons. Call the Wambaw Ranger Office for further details (843) 887-3257.
Directions
From Awendaw (south of McClellanville), drive west on SC 133S for approximately 3.5 miles to the intersection with SC 98S. Drive for about 6 miles to the Round Pond trailhead, which will be on the left. Park in the large parking area.Trail length
