Description

A short, easy hike: it will provide you with some spectacular views. There are picnic benches, a bathroom, a vending machine, campsites, and a lean-to at the top. Dogs are allowed. It is possible to push a wheelchair up the access road.

Directions

From Burlington, take Spear Street South. Turn right to go west on Irish Spring Hill Road. Turn left to go south onto Mt. Philo Road. Continue straight. The Mt. Philo State Park parking lot will be on your left.

Coming from the South on Rt 7. Head into the Chittenden County, you will see State Park Rd. on your right, take it and it will lead to the trail head.

This is probably one of the easiest hikes you can find around here that will take you "up" (meaning not a nature hike). It will probably only take an intermediate hiker an hour or so. But the easy hike still doesn't compromise the views that you will get once you reach the top. Great place for beginners, or people who want to get into hiking. Also, the trailhead is realtively close to the city compared to some others.
