Description

This campground is sheltered by a stand of cottonwoods and Arizona sycamores clustered on the banks of Wet Beaver Creek. The cool, clear waters of nearby Wet Beaver Creek provide an excellent place to fish, hike, swim, wade, and birdwatch, all within a few steps of your campsite. A trailhead within easy driving distance provides access to hiking trails into the Beaver Creek Wilderness. The road that leads to the campground is one of the Coconino National Forest's scenic drives. There is a free picnic area across FR 618 from the campground.The area beyond the oasis nurtured by the stream is upper Sonoran Desert. Its characteristic rock gardens of prickly pear cactus and banana yucca provide a sharp contrast to the lush riparian zone along the creek. Wet Beaver Campground is located just three miles of paved road from I-17.

Directions

Leave Interstate 17 at the AZ 179 exit (#298) and drive 3 miles south on FR 618 to the campground.

Reservation info

Fees

$16 per night, $8 second vehicle. Campground available for picnic/day use from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for $8.00. Firewood is available for sale in all our campgrounds by our hosts. The price is $7.00 ea or 3 bags for $15.

This is a great place, small, but private with all the trees, has a toilet area and water if needed. Close to water hole, creek, hiking, the best time I had camping in awhile, and so close to Phoenix. A definite A1 place for family and friends.

Great campground, close to phoenix and just enough amenities. Even though the camground is small, the trees make the sites seem more secluded. Only complaint is i wish some of the sites were reservable.

It's a nice, quiet, small campground, small family friendly. There is great swimming area in the campground and more both upstream and downstream. Bathrooms are kept clean. Only downside is the fire rings are difficult to cook on. The proximity to Montezuma's well is great.
