This is a very lovely park, uncrowded and scenic, especially in spring. There are 3 places to camp here: 1. There's roadside dispersed camping just before the Park entrance off the highway. This is a safe place because there is usually a border patrol mobile setup across the street. I set up my tent among the RV's, and its quite pleasant! 2. Alamo Canyon is a primitive campground on a dirt road off Hwy. 85. This is a great spot if you bring your own water, and don't mind being a bit off the beaten path. Pay at the Visitor's Center first, then head back to the campground. 3. There's the campground at the Visitor's Center. Sites have cement pads, uncomfortable if tenting. Not much scenery there either, just row after row of cement pads with scrubby bushes in between sites. Its worth it to stay there because the park is so nice most of the year (Summer temps are brutal).
