Free camping! Yes, I said Free Camping!!! At least when I stayed there (Nov. 2003) it was. Very cold in winter, nice campground with some trees and peace and quiet. Great stopoff place if exploring Monument Valley and beyond. Through the Visitor Center you'll find a cement path that takes you to an overlook of the incredibly beautiful Monument, a sort of cliff dwelling underneath an alcove, one of the prettiest and functional places to live in the area! Ranger guided tours are led down to the monument, and as far as I know, tours to the ruins beyond are no longer allowed.
