Description

Unique area between the costal plains and piedmont of South Carolina. Sand Hills State Forest has been managed well for reforestation and wildlife enhancement.

As a note: Fishing is prohibited in Mountain Lake until June 2010 due to a recent restocking effort.

RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED IN ADVANCE AND MUST BE BOOKED AT HEADQUARTERS DURING REGULAR BUSINESS HOURS. RESERVATIONS NOT ACCEPTED AFTER HOURS OR ON WEEKENDS. CHECK-IN TIME IS 11:00 AM AND CHECKOUT TIME IS 11:00AM FOR CAMPSITES, STALLS, AND CORRALS.

This is a cool campground with some good hiking and horseback riding. I like the campsites with the shelters. They are $5.00 more per night than the open sites but the convenience is worth it.
Sandhills National Wildlife Refuge is a short drive from the campground.
