Description

Lee State Natural Area is situated on a hardwood floodplain of the Lynches River, a designated State Scenic River. The diverse habitats support a wide variety of animal life which can be observed by walking the nature trails, boardwalk, or by simply walking the loop road along the Lynches River.

Remnants of work done in the 1930's by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) are still present. Artesian wells can be seen near the millpond and are still pumping water like they did when they were first constructed.

Tent camping, RV camping, horse camping and youth group camping are all popular at Lee. All camping areas are well above the floodplain, situated in a typical Sand Hills setting.

Meticulously well cared for State Natural Area. A mantelpiece of South Carolina State Park Service pride.
6 stars are not available to award here, but in this narrative, I award Lee State Natural Area, and it's staff, 6 stars anyway.
