We love this campground! We are primarily national forest campers because we like the peace and quiet and don't need all the comforts of "home". That being said - Lock 30 combines the best of home comforts (electricity, showers and flush toilets) along with a truly family oriented atmosphere. Yes, Holidays weekends are full and busy, but never seem like a frat party - works great for us with a 13 year old and dog! We mostly try to go at the beginning or end of high season. The owners/management have always been gracious and accomodating and I can't help but think the folks who posted bad reviews might be better off at Austin Lakes or Clay's Park. If YOU don't need the golf carts, activities 24/7 and are looking to actually spend quality times with your kids, minus the X-Box and TV, then Lock 30 is your cup of tea!

Way overpriced. A lot different from the website. I feel they stole my money. Electricity charge was outrageous. If you pay and don't stay, you will not get a refund. The owners are obviously not campers. They seem money hungry to me. The way they make their living is stealing from customers. I do not recommend this place.

We visited this summer..nice place but it has gotten way, way to expensive. Price list keeps going up. Do they not understand the economy is BAD right now? Lock 30 is not worth that kind of money. I spoke/visited with one of the seasonals who stay for 9 months a year and they pay upwards of $2,000 a year! WOW! You should get paved roads and a heated pool for that kind of dough. This place was more empty than I have ever seen it. Nice place but you better be ready to spend some cash! We wont be back until the price $$$ comes down.

We just visited over Labor Day weekend. It was a very nice campground except for the high prices. We paid $38 plus $14 for 2 extra people, so that was $52 a night. Also the wood that you HAD to buy there supposedly because it has been "tested?" was ridiculously priced for a little cartful. We ended up paying $80.00 for wood (what a major rip), probably will never stay here again because of this.

This park is the essence of camping in a beautiful natural seeting. I've camped for 43 years all over the country and this is one of my favorites. I don't know what management or owners did but they finally got rid of the riff raff who junked up their sites and let their kids run wild. There are campers and then there is trailer trash.

This campground sits in a valley surrounded by mountains. the campground is heavily treed with a fishing lake, and a creek flowing around it. We enjoyed hiking along the creek and viewing the wildlife. There is a playground, basketball, volley ball, huge pool, horseshoes, and bocce ball to keep the kids busy. The clubhouse was very clean and included video games, juke box, pool table and tables for playing cards. The restrooms were exceptionally clean with tiled floors and walls, same for the showers. The rules were same as any family campground with quiet times and young children must be supervised when at the pool or fishing lake. We mat new friends and really enjoyed our stay at Lock 30.

Lock 30 Woodlands was a fun family vaction for us in 2008, our first stay. The staff was friendly and helpful and answered any questions that we had. The park is forested with the beaver creek flowing around it, which made for picturesque hiking. The kids really enjoyed fishing in the catch and release pond and swimming in the pool. We really appreciated the 10PM quiet time, there were some campers who thought they did not have to follow the rules and management addressed them immeadiately. Our dog was welcome and there was a off leash area to let him run free. Our experience at Lock 30 Woodlands was fun and fullfilling to our expectations, we would recommend this campground to anyone. See there in 2009

All the campgrounds we have stayed at, the charge is for 2 people with additional people paying a fee including visitors. Our stays at Lock 30 have been fantastic. The quiet picturesque setting was just what we are looking for. After check in I had no need for the office staff to give me details on how to camp, so why would it matter if the office staff had ”camping experience”. The young lady was professional, courteous and explained to us that we pay for what we use with our electricity. More then what we could say about other places where the front desk people are rude. Thank you to a campground that doesn’t make those of us who conserve our electricity usage pay for those who need to light the world while camping. I guess I am not a needy camper so irregular office hours didn’t bother me. We go camping to get away from the world so we could care less if the “Owner and staff are extremely impersonal” , we didn’t go there to be friends with them, we go there for the amenities which are top notch. Why would you care where the owner lives as long as the bathrooms are clean, nice amenities and off the beaten path without the hustle and bustle. The Olympic size pool is clean, the bathrooms are clean, the grounds are clean, and the professional size bocce court and the landscaping is fabulous. I guess if you are a camper that needs to be entertained by someone else then Lock 30 isn’t the place for you to go. If you want to go someplace where the city lights are NOT blaring down on you and you can get back to nature with top notch facilities, then Lock 30 Woodlands RV Resort is the place to go. We have stayed there every year for the last 8 years and watched this place blossom. This campground is highly recommended from a seasoned 30 year camper.

This campground is on the Ohio/Pennsylvania border. When we lived in Ohio, we made the three hour drive about once a month during the summer. Now we drive from N. Carolina twice year—once in summer and usually in the fall to leaf peep. Lock 30 Woodlands might be the best all-around camping experience we’ve found in the Midwest. There are about 100 sites. RV sites are affordable, large and in a horseshoe arrangement around lots of grass and trees. Some have concrete pads, but most do not. Sites are shaded and many are private. You don’t share electric pedestals, parking areas etc. The “backyards” are forested, instead of facing rows of campsites. We take our old 115 pound dog and do not pay extra. (Some campgrounds won’t allow her in because of size.). Front desk is friendly and gives good directions. They allow you to “charge’ firewood, ice, etc. so you pay upon check-out. There’s a beautiful game room in the lodge, huge pool, basketball, volleyball, and about 30 wooded acres where our kids ride bikes. At night it’s been quiet, even on the last really crowded weekend that we camped. Sometime there’s music in the pavilion, but we are usually around the campfire. I go to Lock 30 to relax. Our kids go to play. My husband goes to fish, but he’s not catching much, lately. He’s complained there are too many folks at the fishing lake. We’ve heard they’re building a second lake on the lower level. That’s good because the river requires a fishing license. Maintenance is good. Things seem to get a fresh coat of paint every season and restrooms are well-stocked and clean. Workers loaned my husband tools when we needed them. My only complaint is that the front entry sign lighting –off the access road--is barely adequate and easy to miss –especially when the corn is high in August.

I've camped at this park and applied to have a seasonal spot. I found there were 5 people who left the seasonal camping - not a "majority" as someone commented. I researched the number of sites, and it appears to be 81. 5 out of 81 isn't a majority. 10pm is quiet time the rules simply say. It's that way at most campgrounds that we've visited this past camping season. We camped every other weekend this past summer at campgrounds around the State of Ohio, and found that only this park had a game room. That being said, what DO families do with their children at all the State parks they go camping to after 10pm? There is a rental apt next to the game room. It's connected. The video games butt right up against 1 of the walls of the rental. Imagine if you rented that unit and kids were allowed to stay in the gameroom until 'whenever' they felt like it since some people believe kids should be able to run wild and do as they please. 10pm. Kids should be back at their sites with their families, sitting by the campfire talking and hanging out dontcha think? Isn't camping a 'family' event? It's not the mall where you drop your kids off to be entertained. There are other families to consider and sites are close together - no closer than some State Parks we've camped at. Sounds like someone didn't like the rules the campground has, which is the primary reason my husband and I like it there. It's not a big 'frat' party. It's a small quiet campground that is dog friendly. The 3 weekends we were there this past summer, I never saw anyone hiding in the woods - if we had, my law enforcement husband would have most certainly checked that person out. Someone on here must have been kicked out or something...

Less than 100 site seasonal and weekend campground. Property is beautiful but drives happy campers away because of poor management and high fees. Owner lives out of state and onsite management has no camping experience. Neither are in touch with what camping is all about. Both are impersonal, insulting and rude. With the exception of 2 or 3 holiday weekends, this campground is empty. Any longtime camper knows this is a pretty good indication of it's flaws. Lock 30 comes off as a business investment rather than pleasant place for a happy camping family. Conversations with fellow visitors to Lock 30 indicate the same reasons for weekend campers not returning and majority of seasonal campers pulling out to greener pastures. Beware - websites are deceiving.

I completely agree with first review! Owner of campground seems to be very bitter and mean spirited, taking pleasure in being rude. It is apparant that she DOES NOT like children. This campground offers no activities. There is a pool and a game room but it shuts down leaving children with nothing to do. No pool parties (ex. "Luau")for the children or adults. Wandering around from site to site in the evening is clearly not welcomed. Yes, the owner does spy! Owner has control issues and seems to be worried about the "almighty buck" more than the happiness of her campers. Also this campground advertises wi-fi but for some reason not more than 2 users can access at the same time. Owner likes to issue threats in monthly newsletters. This place is horrible and I would not recemmend it to my worst ememy. "No Fun Allowed" seems to be the motto.

The owner of this place does not want kids here. It is not kid friendly. this place shuts down at 10:00 PM. Nothing for kids to do.there a nice club house but its locked up tight at 10:00 pm and kids can not walk around. If you make any noise at all she hides in the woods and listens. You cannot have fun here.
