Description
This site is way up high in the mountains. I was here at the end of June and there was still a little snow on the ground but the wild flowers were beautiful. The campground is surrounded by meadow and mountains. This is a very large and open area and there was a handpump for potable water the last time I was there. It doesn't get much better than this. Hiking trails in the area. Found this site in Rays Guides, Free campgrounds in Washington.Directions
From Yakima, travel south on Highway 82 for about 3 miles to the Union Gap exit. At the bottom of the off ramp, take a right and then a left at the first stop light. Continue on and at the next stop light take a right. Follow this road approximately 19 miles to the small town of Tampico and bear right. Keep going, and in about 9.5 miles the pavement ends. From here, in .2 miles you'll come to a ""Y"" and you want to bear right. Continue on for another 8.5 miles or so to the camp entrance road on the left.Activities
