Description

The pine trees at the site, planted by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930’s, provide a pine experience not commonly found north of the Missouri River. The trailhead for the Cedar Creek Trail is located at the east end of the recreation site.

From New Bloomfield head west on Route MM 1 mile; turn north on Route J for 2.5 miles to Guthrie; turn west on Route Y for 2 miles: From Ashland, go east on Route Y, 7 miles.

Activities

.5 mile loop trail for hikers is available. The Pine Ridge Section of the Cedar Creek Trail passes through Pine Ridge Recreation Area and is open to foot travel and mountain bikes only. It is marked with grey diamonds. No Horses, please. The remainder of the 36 mile trail is open to hikers, horseback riders and mountain bikers.

Services

The campground has six single sites and two group sites. Tables, pedestal grills, fire rings, drinking water, and a vault toilet are available at Pine Ridge. Two spurs offer adequate space for trailers, but there are no hook-ups for water, electricity, or sewage. Four picnic sites with grills and fire rings are available for people who want to visit for a just few hours or a day. One picnic site and the path to the toilet are paved and accessible to persons in wheelchairs. Large grassy areas can accommodate small groups such as scouts.
