Description
The Moon Lake Project is in northeastern Utah on the north side of the Duchesne River about 140 miles east of Salt Lake City, Utah. Moon Lake Dam and reservoir, high in the Uinta Mountains in the Ashley National Forest, is probably one of the most picturesque of Utahs manmade lakes.Recreation management at Moon Lake is under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Forest Service, Ashley National Forest. The Forest Service can be reached at (435) 722-5018. Situated in a timber setting 10 miles northeast of Mountain Home, at the 8,140-foot elevation. A 770-acre surface area. Managed recreation season is June through September with heavy use on holidays and weekends. Available fish species include rainbow, cutthroat, and brook trout. Reservations accepted at certain campsites; fees charged. Kidney Lake and Lake Fork U.S. Geological Service maps cover the area.Directions
I-80 east of Salt Lake City to State Highway 32. At Hanna, Utah, east on county road across the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation. Access requires high clearance vehicles across the Indian Reservation to Forest Road 134.Activities
