Rustic Campground, very close to the lake. However, I couldnt find a path to the lake. Very quite, mid sized camp spots for tents. It was a long drive with tons of curves, but well worth it. I place this campground in the top 5 I have ever been to. I will be visiting again!

Leelanau State Park is a rustic campground (no electricity)on the tip of Leelanau County. Around half of the sites give you a view of Lake Michigan, and almost a dozen are right on the shoreline. The shore of Lake Michigan here is very rocky, and there isn't a swimming beach, but that doesn't stop most people from wading out into the lake for a swim.
I am biased, because I'm a native of Leelanau County, but this is one of the cleanest, most well-maintained state parks I've been to. The rangers are friendly and helpful, and there is even free coffee most mornings at the ranger station. The Grand Traverse Lighthouse is adjacent to the park, offering a museum and gift shop. And the hiking trails are beautiful and offer a nice variety, from easy to difficult.
