Reviews of Lake Ann State Forest Campground

(2 out of 2 members found this review useful.)Adjacent to, and part of, the Pere Marquette State Forest, this is a nice little campground just a couple miles from the quaint little town of Lake Ann (affectionately called "LA" by us locals) and just a few miles from downtown Traverse City. The campground has some really nice sites, a handful above the lake on a "bluff", and even a few right next to the lake. There is a good bit of privacy between most of them. Lake Ann is a sweet little inland lake, although it can be too busy and noisey at times with boats and ski jets racing around. It's nice for swimming, although it drops off fast, so be prepared. There is a great hiking trail just accross the road from the campground, appropriately named The Lake Ann Pathway. Like a lot of local campgrounds, the best time to enjoy this place is in the off-season. Otherwise you can expect to find it a little too busy. $15.00 a night.
