(0 out of 0 members found this review useful.)This is a nice campground. It's not the best the U.P. has to offer though. There are so many great campgrounds in the U.P. to explore.
The nice thing about this campground is it's proximity to the bridge and U.S.2. It's a nice rest stop, before moving on. It would also be a nice spot to stay if you only have a weekend.
It's not directly on the beach, but it's close. The lakeside sites have a small line of trees behind them. We had to wade through a marshy area to get to the lake.
There isn't enough hiking to justify more than a few days if that's what you're after. If you want a spot in the woods to relax and listen to the waves at bedtime, this campground will do fine. In august you can even find plenty of wild blueberries for your morning cereal.

(1 out of 1 members found this review useful.)Shush, nobody is supposed to know about this place. Stay away, nothing to see here, mine.
Seriously, I love this campground. It is remote, rustic, with incredible hiking biking and scenery. Can't imagine being able to find much better.

(3 out of 3 members found this review useful.)We camped here last year in early September. There was only one other site taken, and they left the following morning, which left us the entire campground to ourselves. The sites are well-spread out from each other as a rule, especially those on the back loop. The sites along the beach are wonderful, and although not quite as private as those on the back loop, they are certainly better than some campsites in other state forest campgrounds. The 6 mile drive down to the campground from US 2 adds to the remoteness of this place. And the beach stretches, undeveloped, for miles. A couple of nice hiking trails coming in, especially the Marsh Lake trail.
