Description

This campground was established on the site of an old Civilian Conservation Corps location.

Directions

From Elkins, West Virginia, talke Highway 33 east approximately 16 miles to Wymer. Turn south on the Middle Mountain road (Forest Road 14). Travel 11 miles to the junction of Forest Road 423. Take Forest Road 423 east for approximately 1 1/2 miles.

Hiking: Several trails are located in the Laurel Fork North and South Wilderness areas.

Services

There are 15 single unit sites available on a first come, first serve basis. Sites are located in an open area with little vegetative screening. Each campsite has a parking spur, table, fire ring, and lantern holder. Campsites are suitable for tent or trailer camping. Three vault toilets and a non-accessible handpump are available.

The best thing about Laurel Forks is its proxcimity to the Sinks of Gandy. It is a very large, open camping area. Sight of an old CCC camp. 20 miles of unpaved roads in. Remote farms and homesteads in the area. Nice for family and group camping.
