This is a perrenial favorite! Just a great area and site. Gets crowded (real crowded) in good summer weather. Late fall you will find solitude and all the room you need. Rivers, ridges, and rocks. This is one of the best.

Best campground we've been to within 3.5 hours of DC. Easy and beautiful drive. Best sites are #6 and #7, although we stayed in the upper part since it was full below. Lower camps are on the upper Potomac, water is crystal clear with fantastic swimming holes. Bring your inner tubes and fishing poles! We highly recommend it!
