The Kelty Crestone 1 is a simple lightweight solo tent for the weight conscious backpacker. A great feature of the Kelty Crestone 1 is the size of it's vestibule. At 6-1/2 sq. ft. this vestibule is larger than you'll find on most other lightweight solo tents. This provides the space you need to stow your gear overnight. The Crestone 1 weighs in at only 4.0 lb. fully packaged weight and 3.0 lb. minimum weight. Dollar for dollar, the Crestone 1 is probably the best value you'll find in an ultra-light backpacking tent. The Crestone 1 is very well ventilated to prevent condensation build up on the inside of the tent. The side wall vents, mesh ceiling and fly vents provide great air flow through the tent. After a hard day on the trail, you'll appreciate the Crestone's color coded clip construction, which makes this tent a cinch to set up, even in limited light or foul weather. The Kelty Crestone 1 comes with DAC Featherlite poles. DAC Featherlite poles are computer designed and tested, and specifically engineered for use in lightweight tents. The Arcedge construction lifts the floor seams up off the ground, eliminating these seams as a potential source of leaks. If you're looking for loads of extra space, the Crestone 1 isn't for you. The ultra-light weight comes at the sacrifice of extra space inside. If you like the Crestone 1, but would prefer more interior space, check out the Crestone 2. It's only a little more than 1 lb. heavier, yet provides much more interior space, and an extra vestibule to boot. The Crestone is not a free-standing tent. This means that the tent must be staked at both ends before it will stand up. This is usually only a problem on terrain where stakes won't hold such as: rocks, loose sand or on top of deep snow. Even in these situations, the ends of the tent can often be tied off to a tree or other large object.

Kelty Helps Haitian Relief Effort

Outdoor gear manufacturer Kelty is getting in on the Haitian relief efforts too and has sent nearly 300 tents to the earthquake zone since January. In one case, some of the Kelty tents were used to house 750 children left without parents after the disaster.
