I use this on both backpacking trips and motorcycle trips. If you purchase Garmins mapping software, the map is really detailed down to dirt roads. Without, like the last reviewer said, don't get to far away from major roads. Lots of features, and user friendly. Built in compass is nice and you can turn off the GPS to save on batteries when using just the compass. I have also used it with a laptop and Street Atlas. No problems interfacing the two.Reviewed by MountainMan on November 30, 2008
Rugged but the screen is a little small and the resolution is just so-so. Includes all the mapping functions you'd expect in a recreational GPS but more detailed maps will cost extra. Built-in basemaps have major highways and even exit info (restaurants, gas, etc.) built in but good luck if you venture too far off the beaten path.Latest from the blog
